Chapter 1 : My Business Idol No.1, Mr. Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett needs no introduction. Everybody knows him in the USA and perhaps, other continents as well, but unfortunately not here in our beloved country. I guess he's not that popular in Malaysia. None of my friends ever told me that they'd read anything about him before. Sorry guys, I'm not going to tell you the whole lot about him here (biography, achievements etc..), so i suggest you to google his name and find some info. Right now, let's talk about his way of thinking and his humble life. He's an amazing businessman, philantropist, remarkable investor and a really down to earth billionaire.

According to the latest Forbes magazine 2008, Mr. Warren Buffett is now the RICHEST MAN ON THE PLANET, surpassing previous winner, the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, which topped the list for 13 years consecutively. His personal fortune jumped over $ 10 billion over the past year, for the total of $ 62 billion dollars!! Whooaa..can he sustain this achievement soon? I don't know what others will say, but for me, i'm sure that Mr. Buffett could go miles ahead of his competitors next year. Of course.

Why did i choose him as my No.1 business idol? Allright, here's the main reason. This kind-hearted and humble guy, had decided to donate 85% of his fortune to charity! Most of it to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which started in July, last year, and some more to Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation. As a Muslim, i really "puji" him for doing that. Tell me, how many persons that you know in Malaysia, were as kind as Warren Buffett, King Fahd of Saudi, the Sultan of Brunei, Bill Gates, John D. Rockefeller and Sir Henry Ford ?( just stating a few name here). Maybe you can count it by fingers huh? Some of them are:-

1) the famous Malaysian sports equipment retailer, "Al-Ikhsan Sports" owner, Mr. Ali Hassan

2) the founder of Yayasan Al-Bukhary, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary (my 2nd business idol!)

3)Dato' Ameer Ali Mydeen , Mydin taukey!!

Those philantropist are all millionaires/billionaires, but donated so much of their money to charity by realizing that their help would lift up other's life. Hoping that more of wealthy and powerful Malaysians could follow they step soon. Amiiin....May Allah bless you all.

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffett, the man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1) He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late !

2) He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

3) He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
4) He drives his own car everywhere and does nothave a driver or security people around him.
5) He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest private jet company.

6) His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies.
He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year.
He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.

7) He has given his CEO’s only two rules.
Rule number 1: Do not lose any of your shareholder’s money.
Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.

8) He does not socialize with the high society crowd.
His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch television.

9) Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time about 11 years ago.
Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet.
So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour.
But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffett!!!

10) Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.
11) His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself.

Got what i mean now?? Think more and think deeply.. Some of these strategies could help you to achieve financial freedom soon. It's not tomorrow, but insya-Allah soon enough. That's all for now, i'm signing off..

Pilihanraya oh Pilihanraya..

Tick Tock...... Tick tock ...... It’s a reminder to all parties concerned, that, any party which sits on the helm should always be sensitive to the needs of the rakyat. Today malaysians of all walks of life irrespective of race, religion, colour, creed and caste has a different mind set compared to 30 years ago. Hmmm... Arrogance and complacency has driven many leaders into acts of vested interest. Gone were the days where one can use race and religion as a tool to indoctrinate voters. Action and deed alone can secure the tenure of one’s leadership, and, that was what exactly lacking in the Barisan leadership and in the circumstances, PKR DAP PAS made the valuable difference. Playing the role as an Atas Pagar citizen, this is my PERSONAL THOUGHTS of Malaysia's General Election 2008 :-

  1. Personally, i think that DAP is a chauvinist Chinese party and should be left alone. Nobody should ally with a party like this, a Silent Killer. PAS made a really big mistake joining the allies. Aku sikpat ngundi k sidak tok eh. Gila lah. Bukan racist, tapi fikirlah dengan bijak.
  2. PKR deserves the big win in Selangor. Akhirnya, rakyat dah muak ngan janji-janji menteri besar S'gor..sidak maok perubahan..that's why minority mula bersuara. Aku happy coz kemenangan parti pembangkang merebut kerusi Parlimen menandakan bahawa Malaysia masih ada DEMOKRASI. ( tapi masih penuh birokrasi...)
  3. Datuk Seri Samy Vellu loss his parliamentary seat?? Hehehe.. this is a good development for people in MIC who have lost trust in the party’s leadership. He's been leading MIC much longer than Tun Dr. Mahathir leading UMNO. Haiya, give up lah..tandah orang lain gik jadi leader..ekot cam Dr.Mahathir...ilek jak.
  4. BN's flawless victory in Sarawak was acceptable. Sebab orang Serawak semua bait-bait, sekda nak berkelaie indah, sekda nak bertikam-tikam batu sama kedirik. Peace. Bukan sik suka, tapi dah boring. Test ketua menteri lain gik? Style lain-lain kan...
  5. Nurul Izzah, anak Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim menang di Lembah Pantai? Congratz...and to the opposition parties who managed to took over Penang, Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Kelantan from BN, please don't take it for granted.
  6. I think we should befirmly grounded before aspiring to reach any height. " Di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit di junjung ". We must realise the strength of “Rakyat” and continue make the people of Malaysia a formidable force to bring about Peace, Justice and Harmony in our life and country. Whatever the result may be, let's work for a PEACEFUL MALAYSIA!!

Well, it is the time for BN to really wake up because it is very common that they just kept bringing up racial issue. Critical dah BN ni tau tak..It is now 2008 and not 1960. This election results is simply the expression of the feeling of the minority in Malaysia. PKR has so much support from the Chinese and Indian voters too. The attitude of the minority is rather simple, it is for sure to vote an opposition they like but if it doesn’t exist in that area then any opposition will do, and if still not available, then it is time to vote an independent cadidiate. If all this do not exist then rather dont even turn up to vote at all. The idea is not to give a single vote to the BN. Why, ask themselves, what have they done wrong to pissed off the minorities?????

"David Caruso............is Horatio Caine....."

I'm back!!! Just finished watching an episode of "CSI: Miami" on AXN ( the Sunday marathon). I am struck by the fact that David Caruso, who portrays Horatio Caine, could seemingly not act his way out of a paper bag. Caine has a slower speech pattern complete with exaggerated pauses. Combine this with the character's penchant for sunglass removal (or replacement) followed by a stunningly cheesy comment and you have the makings of a comedy. Take a look at one of my favourite shot, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d54Ok6Uz_A&feature=related .

I keep asking myself why I continue to come back to the show. Sure, it is the best CSI show ever. The science is interesting, albeit not necessarily 100% accurate, and there is some gunplay. There is an attractive blonde crime scene investigator played by Emily Procter, and a busty ballistic specialist played by Eva La Rue. It is set in Florida and let's face it, is there anybody out there who doesn't enjoy the beautiful beach view, with girls walking around in bikini and shiny, luxury cars passing by? But frankly, none of these reasons quite fit the bill as the real reason that I find myself coming back time and again.

It was Horatio Caine. I enjoy the exaggerated pauses accompanied by the slight tilt of the head. Unique personality. I find the corny lines and sunglass activity quite entertaining. What I find most endearing about the character is his passionate defense of the victims and the integrity of law. (But this is not a statement about the cops or the law in the USA okay!!). Just one of those things that strikes me, as these types of things strikes everybody. Perhaps a broader statement would be concerning the importance of looking past immediate flaws and realizing the greater good in individuals. This is at the core of the character of Horatio Caine. It is certainly a quality that I hope I embrace more and that I hope more people choose to embrace.

Horatio's famous one liner:

" Frank ............ (puts on sunglasses) ......... it's the time to hit back .....(walks out of shot)"

Well guys, that's all for now. Huh?? More Horatio Caine?

"Log on.......(removes sunglasses)............. to this link below....(walks out of shot)" hahahahaha

Mat Pukau is at large!

Huargh.. I can't tell you how many times I sat to create a post and got distracted today.
(baruk bangun tido sebenarnya... lom betol gilak utak tok... Ada angol2 kit..).But i've got something to write on, and happy reading to all.

Yelah, kalau y'all ada tengok news or baca newspaper, kebelakangan ni selalu keluar berita Mat Arab pukau sana pukau sini.

Rupanya si mamat rock tu dah set target awal-awal lagi iaitu sorang Mat Salleh yang tengah syok ambik gambar kat belakang aku. (Oooo...dia target yang lagi loaded rupanya..ceh!) Aku rasa si mamat nampak aku ni macam jenis yang tak berduit sangat kot, so dia target omputeh tuu..hahahahahaha sekati jak aku..

Kalau y'all tak pecaye, inilah watak-watak sebenar yang aku tengah ceritakan.

Sedangkan "con-men salesman" pun pakai tie! pastu tipu orang!) Tapi si mamat ni lain sikit gayanya. Takkan la dia nak tanya direction ngan omputeh tu, padahal nampak sangat macam orang local.

Kesimpulannya, y'all kena berhati-hati bila berjalan sorang-sorang pas ni.

Have a good day!!

Politic Lunatic

What have I been up to today?

I went to my workplace as usual, naik lrt, then 5 minit bejalan kaki pegi ofis kat seberang klcc, and while i was walking to my office, i managed to capture a 'good' shot of my office building, which includes a "Blue party flag" in front of it, and much more at the other side as well.

( Tapi masih juak molah dosa sik abis-abis..aduh aduh..bila gik aku nak betobat tok..) That's why aku rasa aku belom mampu memimpin diri sendiri so paham-pahamlah ye.. Kita kena ubah diri kita sendiri dahulu sebelum bercita-cita nak mengubah orang lain. Barulah orang respect kat kita. "Aku tak sempurna..dan aku sedang berusaha untuk mencapai kesempurnaan itu, walaupun aku takkan mampu mencapainya.." kata hati aku berfalsafah tek.. Hahaha. Gilalah.

Biarkan SEGELINTIR, (ingat!! Biarkan mereka.. Aku just nak duduk diam dan harap they'll never disturb my life. I paid my income tax, aku tunaikan zakat, aku xda hutang and i so far, i think i've done my responsibilities really well as a Malaysian citizen.. (Cuma aku tak pegi mengundi je..malashhh..) Aku tak pernah kacau hidup sapa-sapa pun..so jangan kacau hidup aku.
( aku takla dungu sangat sampai tak tau langsung perihal politik negara.. hehehe tp lain kali la aku borak hal politik dengan detail k..baru y'all tau nanti..)

Alhamdulillah, Malaysia is still in peace. Aku just mampu doakan diorang selamat menempuh hidup. Kesian kan. Kita tiada kuasa hebat (mcm Superman) untuk ubah keadaan dunia. And i've tried to write a song about this a long time ago,(time kesedaran dah timbul dulu) but it just don't feel right to me,( melodyline nya cam haprak jak..) and finally ended up as rubbish. But i'm still going to write something on this soon, and post it here. Just wait and see.PEACE, NO WAR. Sounds like a human rights activist didn't i..haha influenced by Mr.Bono of U2. You're great dude!

Nothing much for me today as i've been assigned to meet Ms. SeowPhik from Alliance Bank on a single purpose, updating her investment portfolio information, and i really wanna thank her for doing some networking for me. She already arranged me an appointment with one of her female colleague (another big potential client), and i'll see her next week to discuss some business matters. Sounds really really good to me..Big grin..

Have a good day. I'm A.D signing off here.

The "Hajat" Fullfilled..

Yeeehaaa.. I'm done with my brainstorming and finally, I registered myself as a blogger after all. I just can't resist the "hajat" of setting up my own blog. Actually, i'm tired of giving buckets and buckets of merciless, annihilating, funny and maybe some spontaneous useful IDEAS to my buddies/colleagues to write on.. then wasting my time staring at them, while they're updating their blogs during office hours..(time bos xda..rah opis di Miri..). I realized that i took too much time thinking, before i decided to sit back, switched my brain to the "thinking mode", and start this blog. Best juak time nulis blog tok, at least menda sik stuck lam utak. Some sort of a creative painkiller maybe?

I like to be around people who are passionate about the same things, and i'm amazed by how much their attitude rub off on me.I'd like to thank Mr. Allan Ngo (my super-mentor/big boss/ cekgu investment), Man, you've taught me a lot! And to my best "ofis"buddy, Mdm. Susan Matilda Marcus for the biscuits that you always sedekah to me,(i boring gila keja rah ctok eh..lom temu geng sama palak gik.) but you taught me how to win it before. Those are the people that convinced and motivated me to accomplish many important decision-making procedures before, focusing more on my future life, emphasizing on my financial aspect etc..). I believe that a strong foundation enables us to keep moving along a steady upwards incline. So, here i am, ready to tell the world ANOTHER DEFINITION of my thoughts, my life, my music, arts, career, my motivation and everything. Adios. Have a good day!!
